Cross-Border Travel Booms on China-Laos Railway During Spring Festival Holiday, Passenger Numbers Up 40%

      During this year’s Spring Festival holiday, cross-border tourism on the China-Laos Railway surged, with a total of 12,900 cross-border passenger trips recorded, representing a year-on-year increase of 41.8%. Among them, inbound passengers exceeded 6,300, up 52.7% year on year, while outbound passengers exceeded 6,500, up 32.5%, vividly demonstrating the vitality brought by regional connectivity.

  Since the railway began operation on December 3, 2021, it has attracted more than 700,000 passengers from 124 countries and regions to travel across borders by high-speed railway trains. The line connects popular tourist destinations such as Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Luang Prabang and Vientiane, with more than 560 tourist attractions along the route. It has become a golden route for cross-border tourism, drawing visitors from around the world.
