Just after the Spring Festival holiday, Xi’anguojigang Railway Station under CR-Xi’an presented a bustling scene. Twelve gantry cranes and 20 reach stackers operated continuously, while more than 3,000 container trucks moved in and out daily. Staff worked seamlessly across operations including marshalling, coupling, inspection and departure, with the roar of machinery and busy activity illustrating the rapid resumption of full operations of the “steel camel caravan.”
As the largest hub station in China in terms of CRE train operations, the station has entered the new year with full capacity, enabling the Silk Road logistics artery to quickly return to efficient operation.
Following the holiday, foreign trade enterprises across the country have fully resumed work and production. Export goods such as electronic products and mechanical equipment are continuously gathering at Xi’anguojigang Railway Station, leading to a sharp increase in cross-border logistics orders and boosting the Silk Road freight market. Driven by strong demand, the number of CRE trains (Xi’an) operated this year has exceeded 900, demonstrating the vitality and resilience of China’s foreign trade market.
Behind the high-speed operation of these trains lies efficient operational support. Leveraging an intelligent application system and a “three-priority” guarantee mechanism, the station coordinates closely with customs and port authorities to ensure 100% accuracy in container yard allocation. A single train can be fully loaded within two hours, while the verification and data upload for an entire train of containers can be completed in just 10 minutes, providing stable and efficient logistics support for outbound freight.
As the first hub city in China to achieve the regular operation of three full-schedule CRE train routes, Xi’an has established a high-frequency network including routes such as the Xi’an-Duisburg line. The fastest services can reach core European hubs in as little as 10 days and 23 hours, providing strong support for the rapid resumption of work and production.
